What it converts

Video

MP4, QuickTime, HEVC, HEVC with alpha, Apple TV, ProRes 422 / HQ / LT / Proxy / 4444 / 4444 XQ, Motion JPEG, 3GPP, animated GIF and frame grabs.

Audio

AAC, Apple Lossless, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, Core Audio, Wave64, audiobook, ringtone and µ-law.

Images

JPEG, PNG, HEIF, AVIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP, ICO, ICNS, PDF, Photoshop, Targa, OpenEXR, JPEG 2000 and Netpbm. Reads 60+ formats, including camera RAW from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Olympus, Panasonic and Leica.

Documents and tools

Merge PDFs, PDF to images or text, images to PDF, text to speech, clip merging and trimming, colour replacement, audio extraction, and ISO or DMG disc images.

Under the hood

The format list is measured, not copied from a table.

Morph asks the running system which codecs it can actually encode, rather than trusting what media containers advertise. That is why sixty formats are native and hardware accelerated on Apple Silicon — and why a handful genuinely cannot be: macOS ships no MP3, Vorbis, AC-3, MP2 or AMR encoder, only decoders.

WebM, Matroska, AVI, WMV, Ogg and WebP need ffmpeg installed separately (brew install ffmpeg). Morph finds it automatically and marks those formats until it does.
